We can have a National Gun Permit System

With the recent school shooting in Parkland, Florida, it is now time for our nation to address control gun violence in our country. Being a veteran, I am supportive of gun ownership. However, I am much more supportive of the lives of our children. Folks, we can have a National Gun Permit System. It is really is not that hard to come up with something that can satisfy most people. There are two simple goals:

Goal 1:  Protect the rights of law-abiding citizens that want to own guns.

Goal 2:  Protect the lives of the American public.

What must a NGPS do?

• Must protect the rights of gun owners and the lives of the American public.
• Ensure that gun owners are mentally competent to own and handle a deadly weapon.
• Provide an efficient process to obtain a gun permit in a timely manner via a closed loop permit application process.
• Provide an effective process to monitor every gun owner’s criminal record after they have received a gun permit.
• Provide an annual gun permit renewal process that includes an annual reevaluation of the gun owner’s mental health.
• Provide an effective means to monitor social media to ensure that any threat of gun violence made results in the immediate revocation of the permit and confiscation of the gun.
• Provide a national hotline and website that allows any person to report any threat of gun violence that they may encounter.

 
What are some common sense criteria for anyone to own a gun?

• Age 21
• No criminal record
• Pass an annual psychiatric evaluation
• No social media red flags
• Annual gun permit renewal required
• Permit required for each gun
• Gun confiscated if renewal not issued.

This seem like pretty reasonable criteria to own a gun, right?
